AJ ROK : "Naquan lived in Central Islip. I was his manager, we did the circuit all the unsigned artists showcases, heavy radio play and interviews on all the college radio stations and his demo was one of the most shopped and received demos at the time besides Wu Tang, every label was rocking and interested in both demos."
Who produced the tracks of the demo tape in 1993 ?
AJ ROK : "Naquan picked the track and the samples for the chorus, but both of us produced it."
How did the connection happen between you and Naquan?
AJ ROK : "He was like my little brother, same age as my sister, lived two doors down, his family was the first family we met when we moved there from Mount Vernon, known him since I was 7 and he and my sister were two-years-old..."
Do you remember how the single "Da N'Credible Nigga" was selected by Jack 'The Rapper' Gibson for the compilation album "Phat Flavor '93 Unsigned Hip Hop" ?
AJ ROK : "Yes I submitted the track for the album and we traveled to Atlanta to network and perform that year."
Why was there nothing else released by Naquan after that ?
AJ ROK : "As I said the demo was making the rounds, same time as Wu Tang, several labels were interested, they were just waiting to hear new music. I also had a video show, Street Vibes and Naquan was my co-host, other things pulled him away from going to the studio to do further music and capitalize on the momentum..."
