Skyzoo - Keep Me Company - 2024

"Keep Me Company" is the latest album dropped by Skyzoo. The project is comprised of 13 tracks produced by JR Swiftz, Sir Williams, DJ Manipulator, Marc Nfinit, Seige Monstracity, DaG, Skyzoo, ANKN, VDR, Leo Confident, and Flughand.

"Skyzoo’s "Keep Me Company" is a study of resilience and memory, capturing life shaped by enduring legacies. Each verse unfolds like a chapter in an epic, rooted in strength and identity. Through vivid imagery, Skyzoo invites listeners into his world, where cultural inheritance and self-growth coexist. His lyrics honor the past while reaching forward, blending introspection with grit. The production, textured and reverent, amplifies his vision without overshadowing it. Keep Me Company is both anthem and testament, a fierce reminder of survival’s beauty, the dignity of struggle, and the poetry found in perseverance."

" This 60 minutes journey is a soulful homage to all train writers. The feeling when you go home in the morning light and maybe you're lucky enough to see your train moving. No one else has to understand this, because you live your life and you decide what you do with your creativity. Most of these souls are exposed to constant fire and only the moment after is pure freedom and silence within you. " courtesy of 90's Tapes

CRAZ - Watcha Gonna Do / It's On - 1994

12" - 1994 - East Harlem Records

"Watcha Gonna Do / It's On" is the first and only 12" released by CRAZ. It came out in 1994 on East Harlem Records, a small indie record label based in New Jersey. The wax was executive produced by Special K & Teddy Ted a.k.a The Awesome Two and Jeffrey Collins who was the CEO of Echo Inernational. Both tracks were produced by Elis Pacheco a.k.a Pacman who also worked with Frankie Cutlass at the time.

Kausion - Land Of The Skanless / What You Wanna Do? - 1995

" Los Angeles 1994... Ice Cube is trying to kick it between scenes on the set of the film "Higher Learning". A brother runs up on him with a cassette in his hand "Yo Cube, Check It Out. This is my brother's group, KAUSION". DEEZAMM! these fools gots skills. "

According to the official Press sheet, that's how the connection happened with Ice Cube's Label Lench Mob Records who signed KAUSION and dropped their two debut 12-inches in 1995 : "Land Of The Skanless" produced by Budda, and "What You Wanna Do? / Bounce, Rock, Skate" produced by Ice Cube and Kausion.

12" - 1995 - Lench Mob Records

12" - 1995 - Lench Mob Records

The group was comprised of 3 members : CEL, KAYDO and GONZOE (RIP). They were all under 21 at that time. They grew up together in South Central, Los Angeles and have been working as a rap group since 1989.
I'm not usually a huge fan of gangsta rap but I think those 12"s are pretty good. As written on their press sheet "Kausion comes off like a breath of fresh air. They're moving the Westcoast Hip-Hop out of the slow flow, back into the hectic hardcore style it's known for."
Both records are really cheap and are really easy to catch, not like their debut album "South Central Los Skanless" produced by Ice Cube, Kausion, Laylaw, D.Maq and Budda, which was released on CD & Cassette in September 1995 and which is really hard to find for a good price. An official limited edition vinyl reissue (100 copies only) came out in 2019 on Blocwize Ent. with the help of GONZOE before he was murdered... but it was sold out very quickly.
