G-Supreme - Rhythm Rhyme Scientist - 1992

"Rhythm Rhyme Scientist" is the first 12" released by Dre Parker a.k.a G-Supreme in 1992 on Parker Plan Productions. It consists of 4 tracks titled "Feel The "G" (I'm The Amazing)", "Rhythm Rhyme Master featuring his father Don Parker, "Eve Of A Black Revolution" and "School The Young".

G-Supreme grew up in NYC and started his solo career as a teenager. He was supposed to be produced by Boogie Down Productions, he got signed by their record company (B-Boy Records) but unfortunately everything stopped for him when Scott La Rock was murdered...

After that, he dropped his own solo projects and he continued to produce and perform with his groups Da Phat (G-Supreme Da Scientific, Da General Born-G & Da Duke) and Mental-Men.

This 12" (Rhythm Rhyme Scientist) remains a rare wax to find, so don't hesitate for a second if you come across it for a good price...

BigShawnDon - Contact - 2026

LP - 2026 - Gramofix Records

Originally released on CD in 1998 on Starr Records, the album "Contact" by Springfield, Ohio rapper BigShawnDon is now being reissued on vinyl & CD with the help of Gramofix Records. Each format is limited to 260 copies and includes two bonus tracks.

BigShawnDon : " Contact was the very first full length CD released from an artist from my city (Springfield Oh). This CD was sold in record stores all over the country. It was a big deal back then to some guys that just wanted to make music and be heard. This album was the beginning of a movement. It led to me later opening a record store and a beauty salon both right on my block across the street from my house that later was turned into a recording studio. This movement was also the birth of PPC (Poetical Priznaz Camp) who later dropped another full length CD. We done shows near and far. That project put us on stages as far as Los Angeles. Myself, Reedy Beedy, Freakshow, DJD, Hollywood, Speedy P, LA, and Sauce had the local music game in a chokehold. Some of yall are too young to remember or even know at all but I remember what felt like the entire city coming out to support our video shoots. It was a time where people could come together without the drama just good times and a lot of love. This album takes me back to all of the good vibes. I never stopped my musical journey over the years. I’ve produced, written, recorded, mix and mastered for lots of artists and recently took some time to focus on my own creative passion. I finished a brand new solo project that will be dropping in June this year 2026. So much life has happened since “Contact”. I’ve grown from my first project and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This music thing is in me not on me, it’s who I am, It’s what I do and what I’ve always done. I say that to say bet on yourself and do what makes you happy and leave something good behind for them to remember you by. We’re not here for a long time so let’s make it a good time.

DJ Shok Presents Listen: Hi-Tech's Unreleased Demos

2xLP - 2026 - 90's Tapes / HHV

"Here's something very special for the heads out there: DJ Shok stumbled upon a forgotten demo tape that contains alternate material, unreleased tracks and demo versions of the dynamic duo's prime.

Emerging from the Bronx and later rooted in Yonkers, MC Hi-Tech represents the essence of East Coast underground Hip-Hop from the 90s. Known for a handful of rare and sought-after 12" singles, his work stands out through sharp lyricism and stripped-down authenticity. Tracks like “Book Of Life,” “24/7,” or “4 Degrees For The Streets” became staples among collectors and aficionados of the era. DJ Shok, a respected figure in the underground scene, played a crucial role in shaping and preserving this legacy - handling much of the original production alongside collaborators like Jay Biz and later curating Hi-Tech’s catalog into a cohesive anthology." - courtesy of 90's Tapes

Available in a limited run on 2LP, CD in jewel case, MC and digitally on all major platforms.

METROPOLUS - Frequently Freakin Frequencies / The Onslaught - 1994

Once again, there's no info on Discogs about this very hard to find 12" released by this group called METROPOLUS in 1994 on Sublevel Hoods Record Works, so here's what I've got...

METROPOLUS was a group from Los Angeles, comprised of 3 members (2 rappers and 1 DJ from Compton and Inglewood). One of the rapper went by "Mug Push" but the names of the leader/DJ and the other rapper remain unknown.

Their 12" is composed of 2 tracks titled "Frequently Freakin Frequencies" and "The Onslaught". The production was handled by the group members.

The tracks were mixed & arranged by LT at Groove City Studios. In fact, LT is sound engineer Lou "WytKat" Thomas. He explains that all of this took place in the early 90s in Los Angeles, where most of his musical journey unfolded. He recalls it as a golden era for early sampling, rap and raw creativity. Back then, everything was hands-on : real vinyl scratching and recordings made on 8-track reel to reel machines, which he describes as the good old days.

WytKat doesn't recall much about the members of the group but he told me that they recorded more than 10 tracks at the time. A little gift for you... he shared them on his Soundcloud especially for the blog. Mad Props to him !

Awon & The Other Guys - Solidified - 2026

"Solidified is modern boom bap soul—grounded, intentional, and fully realized. A heavy, ominous low end runs throughout, creating a cloud-like landing for Awon’s smooth yet razor-sharp delivery.

The album is rich with authentic, thoughtful storytelling, balanced by the wit and charisma expected from a seasoned emcee. Awon & The Other Guys draw from years of experience crafting hip-hop records, delivering a sound that feels both familiar and refreshingly focused.

This isn’t an album chasing placement—it’s a presence. Solidified feels like something that’s always been there, like a painting on the wall you’ve lived with long enough to understand. Not reinvented, not rebranded—just refined.

In many ways, it’s a reminder: this is what hip-hop is supposed to sound like." - courtesy of Hipnott Records

Sah-B - Some Ol' Sah-B Shit - 1994

In the early '90s, the East Coast rap scene was overflowing with raw talent, yet many promising artists slipped through the cracks before getting the recognition they deserved. One such case is Sah-B, a female rapper from East Orange, New Jersey, whose 1994 single "Summa Day / Some Ol' Sah-B Shit" remains a snapshot of an album that never officially came to life.

12" - 1994 - Reprise Records

Released on Reprise Records, the single was meant to introduce Sah-B's debut album "Some Ol' Sah-B Shit", which ultimately never saw an official release beyond a rare promotional cassette circulating at the time. What we're left with instead is this two-track single, produced by two respected figures in East Coast hip-hop, that hints at what could have been a strong addition to the mid '90s rap landscape.

On the A-side, the lead single "Summa Day" is produced by legendary Juice Crew architect Marley Marl, but to be honest this track isn't really my cup of tea, and in my opinion, it wasn't a good choice for a debut single... I prefer the B-side with "Some Ol' Sah-B Shit", produced by K-Def.

The track "Some Ol' Sah-B Shit" stands as a small artifact of '90s hip-hop history. For collectors and fans of forgotten East Coast rap, the single offers a glimpse of an artist who had the voice, attitude, and production backing to make a real mark. Sadly, Sah-B's moment remained largely frozen in this lone single.

The 12" is really inexpensive... if you like the single "Some Ol' Sah-B Shit", don't hesitate! You can also check her unreleased album... some songs are definitely worth a listen. Peace
