DJ 2-TONE JONES - Contraband from India - 2021

LP - 2021 - The Jones Collection

DJ 2-TONE JONES from Washington D.C drops his latest project entitled "Contraband from India". The album features a nice batch of MCs like Prince Po, Asheru, YU, John Robinson, Hassaan Mackey, Supastition ... just to nem a few ... and features production by Diamond D, Kev Brown, Waajeed, Praise, DJ Roddy Rod ... and many more.

For over 10 years 2-Tone has worked in education in DC; both as an instructor for a Hip-Hop, non-profit organization called Words Beats & Life, Inc. (WBL), and as a teacher at Ballou Senior High School.  He graduated from Morehouse College and went on to receive a Masters degree from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University.

In 2016 DJ 2-Tone was selected to the Next Level program; an initiative of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and the US State Department.  He was sent to India during the Spring of that year serving as a cultural ambassador on behalf of the US and Hip-Hop. After nearly a month in the land of Gandhi, he returned home with a stack of rare traditional and jazz-fusion records from Calcutta, and hand-selected tracks to send out to a range of legendary, heavy-hitting Hip-Hop producers to sample from. The result of this cultural experiment is "Contraband from India".

The Vinyl is available exclusively through Get On Down but Limited copies (Collector's Combo (Limited Black Vinyl + Mixtape) & Limited Black edition vinyl (50 copies)) are available Here.

Supastition - Sacrifice EP - 2019

I've been following Supastition since the beginning of his career.

His last project deeply means something to me because I went through the same situation this year...

"In March 2019, Supastition’s wife was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer. All proceeds from this release will help to cover the medical costs and other expenses accrued during the surgeries and hospital stay. If there's ever been a Supastition music release that needs your support then this would be the one. Your support would greatly be appreciated.

After taking a long hiatus after the release of Gold Standard and a strenuous 60+ city U.S. tour, Supastition returns with the self-produced Sacrifice EP. The project features guest appearances from Blueprint and Yamin Semali as well as scratches from DMC Germany champion DJ Robert Smith. The project speaks on everything from learning to sacrifice your own dreams for the betterment of your family to the negative effects of attention and social media. Of course, there's some bars on here too! All songs were written, arranged, recorded, and produced by Supastition. Graphic design is handled by the artist himself. "

Maximum shares and full support !

Take It Personal - Episode 31 - Talking Book (With Supastition)

"As the summer comes to an end, we felt the best way to transition was to let the music do the talking. We have new joints by Redman, Westside Gunn, DJ Muggs, Redman, Dres, Blueprint, Apollo Brown & Locksmith, plus we sprinkle in smooth favorites by Little Brother, Hieroglyphics, Felt, O.C. and take it back to '93 with classics by Fat Joe, Ultramagnetic MC's, Brand Nubian, MC Breed, Tha Alkaholiks and KMD to name a few. We also catch-up with our longtime friend Supastiton, who shares some great stories and was kind enough to allow us to remix one of his tracks too. Sit back, relax and enjoy the musical journey and peace to all of the Stevie Wonder fans out there - this cover is for you!" - Take It Personal

Soundsci - Walk The Earth + Write On / Changing Of The Gods 7"

" Soundsci's third album 'Walk the Earth', as the title implies, hears the crew travelling over sampled musical terrain, proclaiming their agenda of "walking from place to place, meeting people, getting into adventures". The title reflects that Soundsci are from all over the globe, each member having different perspectives and skills, yet coming together with one mind to remind everyone why they love Hip Hop! The subject matter of the lyrics on this album ranges from current affairs to age old facts of the human condition. There is a keen focus on diversity in both tempo and mood, enough to keep even the most jaded 'head' engaged. In an age where the phrase 'in one ear, out the other' seems more pertinent than ever, Soundsci strive to take the listener on a journey. Sometimes the road is bumpy, be it the dense jungle of everyday living, or the broad vista's of the minds eye, there is always a strong grounded connection with the truth as the crew sees it. It is of great importance to all members of the crew to remain progressive both lyrically and musically, whilst retaining all that they have learned from their long path to reach this moment. Join this band of Ronin, and take in their song I promise it will refresh you. " Soundsci

7" - 2016 - World Expo

"The A side hears emcee's Oxygen, UGeorge and Audessey rejoicing in expression "The struggle builds character when you weather the storm, so write on" The music, funky as ever pushes along with an anthemic horn line enhancing the emotion of the moving message.
The B side 'Changing of the Gods' debuted on Soundsci's newest member Supastition's LP The Gold Standard from 2015. Supastition's infectious energy hits you immediately with Ugeorge and Oxygen adding pure fire on this golden nugget. Dj Ollie Teeba adds the finishing touch with some precision cuts, letting you know that the crew are ready to show & prove at the drop of a dime…" Soundsci
