Bandits - Flatline Records

Canada was definitely the second best indie hip-hop scene during the 90s, especially the city of Toronto who gave birth to a massive number of independent hip-hop artists or groups...and Bandits was definitely one of them.
Bandits was a group from Toronto, Ontario, consisted of Speng, Dman Dillinger and Alkatraz. In the late 90s / early 2000s, the crew dropped two 12-inches on Flatline Records, fully produced by Scam of Concrete Mob. The tracks of the first wax are "Movin Tha Pawns" &  "War". The tracks of the second wax are "Trust " and "How Ya Living" featuring two other emcees named Des and Savagas.

Alkatraz : "Speng and myself knew each other since grade 6. He went by the name of Abdullah Hussein when we first started. Dman we met at Eastern Commerce in grade 9, we brought him to Bleeker St and he never left us... I’m from Regent Park / Bleeker, Speng is from South Bleeker and Dman is from Coxwell and Gerrard / Scarborough. Scam was from Esplanade and I hung out with his friend who was the big dog of that area and he introduced us, and the rest was history..."

Alkatraz : "Des a.k.a Ion Mike was a young boy from my hood, he was coming up trying to be in the rap game ...very conscious guy, we invited him to the studio, he blessed it... and Savagas came to the hood from Montreal and hung out with us, he had some skill and happened to be there that night drinking with us, so I helped him write something sort of as a joke originally but the guys liked it so we put him in..."

Those 12-inches are their last official releases...
The group stopped after that and the members went separate ways...

Alkatraz : "I went solo and dropped 3 albums and life got the rest..."

Mad Props to Alkatraz, thanks for your time.
