12" - 1997 - Tru-Grain Entertainment
"Southside" is the name of the 12" released by the emcee called Nitty Gritty from Southside Jamaica Queens. It was released in 1997 on the independent record label Tru-Grain Entertainment, and it contains 2 songs titled "Tru Grain" and "Sandz of Time", both produced by the legendary Brooklyn-based beatmaker Backspin Vibe Chemist.
The executive producers of this record were Shawn Cohen and John "Klass" Hamilton who is known for being an OG member of Wu-Tang management. No more info about the artist unfortunately. I've contacted Klass but no answer ... In March 13, 1997 Nitty Gritty was invited in the Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show for the release of his debut 12". It's his only known appearance on a radio show I believe. You can check the freestyle and the short interview here.
