The Ill Brothers - Mescaline - 1994

12" - 1994 - Nerve Deafness Recordings

In 1994 , the L.A based group The Ill Brothers or Ill Brothers Project (IBP) dropped a 12" composed of 6 tracks, released on the Label Nerve Deafness Recordings. The main single of the wax is the excellent "Mescaline - The Funky Dope Maneuver" produced by Dj Homicide. The other tracks are produced by The Ill Brothers, Dj Homicide and Zulu Gremlin.

"Snikaze McSweeny & Ill Brother Chatone met during High School Geometry Class in 1988. They both immediately recognized that they were both deep into Hip-Hop Music and Culture. ILL Brother Chat invited Snikaze to kick rhymes over beats at his house, Shit was dope so it became official. Later they met underground locals : Emcee, Jay Jaballas & Turntablist, DJ G-Wiz. The Ill Brothers Posse was now in full effect. Tired of trying to get signed to a major Label , They decided go their own route and make their own records." - Ill Brothers

"I received this demo from the So Cal hip-hop group, Ill Brothers Posse, circa 1994, just as I was beginning my first regular radio show at KALX in Berkeley. The A-side had five songs (though only four are titled) and for years, I didn't know if the B-side was part of the demo or what; the only label was "Uno" but now I think it might be a 3-song demo from OMD (Of Mexican Descent). In any case, I always dug the IBP, especially their first two 12"s, "Mescaline" and "Olestra." This demo has one song that made it to the "Mescaline" single ("Valley of the Broken Necks"). Far as I know, nothing else on this was ever pressed up." - Oliver "O-Dub" Wang
