Venom - Ruff N Tuff - 2017

CD - 2017 - Marvel Records

"Step down into this hidden parking lot, only the trucks lights allow you to see your ennemi. You are alone with no protection. A tight crowd is packed in circle around you, they got knives & chains, your influences are here too, waiting for any mistake. Your opponent will use the
deadliest weapons to win, you'll have to show no mercy without losing your heart.

One man, arrived from a foreign land with his Ensoniq ASR-X machine, a challenger ready for action, with something to prove, will have to defeat the toughest opponents to win this music tournament. Especially the worst of all : Himself.

Detroit, Buffalo, Atlanta, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Los Angeles, New Jersey, some of the best music fighters come from every state to this showdown : Camp Lo, M E D (Stone Throw), Rah Digga, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Ras Kass, Conway, The Legion, Shadez Of Brooklyn, Marquee, Skanks & Gstats (of Bankai Fam), F.O.D, Nolan The Ninja and the talented singer Stacy Epps.

“Ruff N Tuff” is the debut album of the Marvel Records artist VENOM, producer/remixer, half of NINJUSTICE (with Kyo Itachi), best known for his productions on Blaq Poet album "The Most Dangerous" and Marquee "Femme Fatale" + a bunch of underground bangers for Bankai Fam, Dirt Platoon...
Not a compilation but a true producer album as Eric Sermon “Insomnia” or Pete Rock’s “Soul Survivor” , an "action album" with a deep concept that sounds like no other. With uncanny production skills, the Beat Warrior VENOM use music as a weapon, he punched the pads with brass knuckles and pushed his machines to their last limits. He programmed hard hitting drums and layered samples as bricks, then broke it with knife-hand scratches and ultimately let the world knows his productions strenght...

Here you have an authentic Marvel Records album with the usual cover hand-painted by the legendary Melki (who did classic movies cover in the 80's such as Nightmare On Elm Street, Creepshow, Buckaroo Banzai, etc..).

Only one question remains : Are you tuff enuff? "

All tracks produced by Venom for Marvel Records.

Lac Rippa / Scrooge - Lets Get It On / Concrete Jungle - 1995

Not a lot of info about Lac Rippa, Scrooge and this 12" ... except the duo was produced by Russell Pressley a.k.a Russ Prez, who produced at that time for Wu-Tang affiliated groups like Deadly Venoms, KGB or Killarmy. I asked to Russell some info about the group but I haven't had any answer yet.
The 12" was released in 1995 on Mentally Disturbed East West and is composed of two tracks : "Lets get It On" which contains a sample of "Impeach The President" performed by The Honey Drippers and "Concrete Jungle" which uses the same bassline as Mobb Deep in "Trife Life", a sample of "You Are My Starship" performed by Norman Connors featuring Michael Henderson.
