Almost one year after the release of the CD format, Hip Hop Enterprise is back with the vinyl treatment of Vaughn Smith's debut album "Diamondz and Pearlz" which was originally dropped on tape in 1996.
"The incredibly rare cassette-only 1996 debut of North Philly's Vaughn Smith has finally been restored on this brand-new vinyl edition from Hip-Hop Enterprise. Diamondz and Pearlz is a surprisingly mature, understated and jazzy album that sounds better now than it ever has before.
Working with Smith, who produced all 14 tracks himself, the original DAT masters were recovered but severely damaged, so this release was remastered by Jee Van Cleef from an original tape in addition to further vinyl mastering.
The artwork was started by LDL but due to his busy schedule Manu the Muk took over and brought everything to an impressive end. The album will also come with an insert that features an all-new, exclusive Vaughn Smith interview by Werner von Wallenrod." - courtesy of HHE
Available on Transparant Green Vinyl w/ OBI (100 copies / de Rap Winkel Records Exclusive, coming next week), on Crystal Vinyl (100 copies, HHV Exclusive) and on Black Vinyl (100 copies)

"After the breakup of Tuff Crew, DJ Too Tuff opened a studio at No 7 West Girard Ave in an area known now as Northern Liberties. Through hand to hand flyers, street team promotions and mixtape sales DJ Too Tuff was able to create his own underground collective and discover new talent that would later be in this lost archives collection. Many of the songs that were made ended up being used as Rest In Peace and dedication songs by drug posses during the 80's and 90's drug wars. All of this production was made exclusively on 2 Technics 1200s / Numark Mixer / Akai MPC 60 / Multiverb / Tascam 488 purchased by Sound One Talent by Philip Voluck Esq. and John The Investor." - courtesy of Hip-Hop Enterprise

"In celebration of its 30th Anniversary, Dust & Dope Recordings in collaboration with Hip-Hop Enterprise present Gotta Have Style, the previously unreleased album by one of Seattle's best kept secrets. Featured in one of the very first Unsigned Hype columns, this five-man crew released one 12" single and an extremely rare cassette EP in 1991, however their full length album was permanently shelved... until now. After Dust & Dope gave this banger the CD treatment it was time to take care of the vinyl headz as well! This 2xLP release features unheard, alternate recordings of the cuts from their EP, plus nine more completely unreleased, never before leaked, full-length songs. All tracks originally recorded 1989-1991, restored from their original DAT masters and expertly remastered by the legendary Earle Holder at HDQRTZ Mastering Studio." - courtesy of Hip-Hop Enterprise
