Under Achieva'z - Self Titled EP - 1996

K7 - 1996 - UnderAchieva'z Music

In 1996, a 7-Track EP was released by the group named Under Achieva'z, consisting of Hoo'Kraze a.k.a Hook, Phantom Black & The Victorious 1 a.k.a Vxe the MC. They were from Washington DC, based between Northeast, Northwest and Riverdale MD. They all went to school together and formed the group in the late 94 early 95. A fourth member was also part of the group at that time when they released the EP, his name was 30 30 but he left the crew.

Their self-titled EP was only dropped on cassette. It came out on UnderAchieva'z Music, an indie record label managed by Sal Silver a.k.a Big Sal who originally came from Vauxhall, New Jersey.

The Tape contains the tracks "It Seems Kinda Strange", "Smacktations", "D.C. Rocks", "Wear Ya Rubba'z", "Ya' Betta' Believe" Featuring Edley Shine, "The Newz Intro" & "The Newz", fully produced by Hoo'Kraze. It's definitely an EP we'd like to see coming out on vinyl nowadays... Listen to it ...

After the release of the tape in 1996, they kept making music and producing other work. Vxe the MC end up connecting with QuestionMark Asylum along with acting.

Lo Life ‎- Lo Lifes Are Lo / No Weak Signs - 1997

12" - 1997 - Overit Multimedia

Lo Life was a Hip-Hop trio from NYC who started in 1992. They dropped their first single "We On Now" the same year on Lo Life Productions. This group was composed of Kadaflo from Bushwick (NY), Ba Dubb from Troy (NY) and EP also from Bushwick (NY).

Kadaflo :"I came up from BK to upstate NY to hustle in 88, got knocked in 89 in Troy NY. That’s where me and Ba Dubb met in the county jail."

This 12" single came out circa '97 on Overit Multimedia. Both tracks "Lo Lifes Are Lo" and "No Weak Signs" were produced by Rich Blak of Da Beatminerz. This wax is very hard to find and recently the rare copies for sale on ebay were sold at pretty high prices...

After that, they went separate ways for a while and according to Kadaflo they had tracks for the album but unfortunately it never came out...

Props to Kadaflo a.k.a Ncredible Barzz.

Branded Black - Archeology EP - 1999

No doubt that Canadian scene during the 90s was full of very good crew and Branded Black from Pickering Ontario was one of them. Branded Black consisted of brothers Essen-G and K-Roc a.k.a K-Boogie.

Not a lot of Info about this group exept that they released a 12"(Enta' Tha' Session / Check Tha' Mic) in 1996. An EP named 'Archeology' from 1999 exists but I'm not sure if a physical copy was released. A reissue is one of the best thing we could hope for all Hip-Hop collectors.

03 - Creep

04 - Props

05 - Microphone Plunderer
