Da N'Credible Nigga Naquan - Demo Tape - 1993

In 2011, my man MadHuman uploaded on his youtube channel the snippets of the demo tape recorded in 1993 by Da N'credible Nigga Naquan from Long Island.

This tape consists of 3 demos titled "Dropping Shit", "Funky Tongue Twister" and the lead single "Da N'credible Nigga" which will be selected the same year on the excellent compilation album "Phat Flavor '93 Unsigned Hip Hop" released only on tape and executive produced by the late Jack "The Rapper" Gibson (RIP) from Atlanta.

At that time Naquan was managed by A.J Woodson a.k.a AJ Rok (Modern Music Man Productions Inc), member of the legendary J.V.C Force.

AJ, where did Naquan come from exactly ?

AJ ROK : "Naquan lived in Central Islip. I was his manager, we did the circuit all the unsigned artists showcases, heavy radio play and interviews on all the college radio stations and his demo was one of the most shopped and received demos at the time besides Wu Tang, every label was rocking and interested in both demos."

Who produced the tracks of the demo tape in 1993 ?

AJ ROK : "Naquan picked the track and the samples for the chorus, but both of us produced it."

How did the connection happen between you and Naquan?

AJ ROK : "He was like my little brother, same age as my sister, lived two doors down, his family was the first family we met when we moved there from Mount Vernon, known him since I was 7 and he and my sister were two-years-old..."

Do you remember how the single "Da N'Credible Nigga" was selected by Jack 'The Rapper' Gibson for the compilation album "Phat Flavor '93 Unsigned Hip Hop" ?

AJ ROK : "Yes I submitted the track for the album and we traveled to Atlanta to network and perform that year."

Why was there nothing else released by Naquan after that ?

AJ ROK : "As I said the demo was making the rounds, same time as Wu Tang, several labels were interested, they were just waiting to hear new music. I also had a video show, Street Vibes and Naquan was my co-host, other things pulled him away from going to the studio to do further music and capitalize on the momentum..."

Mad Props to A.J Woodson a.k.a AJ Rok, thanks for your time.

Big thanks to MadHuman for the snippets.

Outlaw Posse ‎- Resurrection E.P. - 199X

EP - 199X - Krazy Fly

Here is the second wax dropped in the early 90s by the UK-based label Krazy Fly Rekz after the very good "Real Skills" EP released by Upfront Rudies, Richie Rich & Bello B. No Info about the year, but I think this "Resurrection" EP was released by the legendary Outlaw Posse (Bello B & K-Gee) around 1993.

It consists of the tracks "Listen" available in its Vocal, K.G Remix and Instrumental versions which are for me the best tracks of the project, "So Good" available in its Basement Mix and Instrumental versions , and "Dey Don't know" available in its Vocal and Instrumental versions, all songs written and produced by Bello B except the remix version of "Listen" which is produced by K-Gee a.k.a FRO Master.

Mix : DJ Skeli - Random Street Flava

The Hanover-based DJ Skeli drops a spontaneous Mid 90s Boombap Flava live mix... More than one hour of a very good indie hip-hop selection. Enjoy !
